    This work was accomplished with the objective of evaluating the germination Stylosanthes capitata submitted the different levels of salinity of the irrigation water. The experiment was carried vegetation home in the Department of Vegetable Sciences of UFERSA, MossoróRN. The design was used randomized entirely, with seven treatments and four replications. The appraised treatments were different salinities of the irrigation water (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 and 6.5 dS m1). The analyzed variables were the germination percentage and the index of emergency velocity. The (%GER) and the (IVE) were affected for the applied salinity levels, being the most intense effect in salinity starting from 2.5 dS m1. Other works with salinity must accomplish to study the behavior of this leguminous in field conditions. The Stylosanthes capitata can be classified as moderately tolerant the salinity.

    Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar a germinação Stylosanthes capitata sob diferentes níveis de salinidade da água de irrigação. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação no Departamento de Ciências Vegetais da UFERSA, Mossoró–RN. Utilizouse o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com sete tratamentos e quatro repetições. Os tratamentos avaliados foram diferentes salinidades da água de irrigação (0,5; 1,5; 2,5; 3,5; 4,5; 5,5 e 6,5 dS m1). As variáveis avaliadas foram à porcentagem de germinação (%GER) e o índice de velocidade de emergência (IVE). A %GER e o IVE foram afetados pelos níveis de salinidade aplicados, sendo o efeito mais intenso em salinidade a partir de 2,5 dS m1. Outros trabalhos com salinidade devem realizados para estudar o comportamento desta leguminosa em condições de campo. Stylosanthes capitata pode ser classificada como moderadamente tolerante a salinidade.
