Si había algo que los antiguos pobladores de las Antillas sabían hacer, era interpretar el paisaje y en consecuencia, su perfecta habilidad para nombrar sitios. La toponimia aborigen es una práctica lección de geografía e hidrografía que arrancan incluso, al más entendido en el tema, gran admiración por la insuperable sapiencia del hombre primitivo.
Gracias a la simbiosis hombre-naturaleza, la toponimia aborigen es mucho más que patrimonio arqueológico, es alternativa de estudio de la historia de la civilización humana y la influencia de la misma en el medio natural. Desafortunadamente ese desarrollo que facilita la vida, ha relegado a planos inferiores la protección de la gran Madre Tierra, de manera que hemos condenado a miles de especies a la extinción. A los itabos, grandes ecosistemas aprovechados por los nativos, también les ha tocado perder en esta carrera por la supervivencia. El presente trabajo tiene el propósito analizar cómo ha impactado la acción antropogénica en la conservación del patrimonio arqueológico y natural en los itabos

If there was something that the ancient inhabitants of the Antilles knew how to do, it was to interpret the landscape and, consequently, their perfect ability to name sites. Aboriginal toponymy is a practical lesson in geography and hydrography that draws even the most knowledgeable on the subject great admiration for the insurmountable wisdom of primitive man.
Thanks to the man-nature symbiosis, aboriginal toponymy is much more than archaeological heritage, it is an alternative study of the history of the human civilization and its influence on the natural environment. Unfortunately, this development that makes life easier, has relegated to planes.
The protection of the great Mother Earth is inferior, so we have condemned thousands of species to extinction. To the itabos, great ecosystems harnessed by the natives, they have also had to lose in this race for survival. The purpose of this work is to analyze how anthropogenic action has been impacted in the conservation of the archaeological and natural heritage in the itabos.
