  • Beckett's Malone meurt is a problematic novel acting like a drama about telling and writing. It's a tragedy without telos. Narrator and characters are the tragic vestiges. This novel can be compared with the traditional Artes moriendi. Death and decay, resurrection and fusion are the main themes, but with irony in its use of allegorical and mystical imagination. In Malone meurt the poet himself is the sacrificial actor and victim.
