  • There is the common belief that coa/ macerals of inertinite group are essentially inert in any conversion process. Particular/y, the low p/astic properties achieved by inertinite during the pyrolysis stage of coa/ combustion are thought to affect the porosity of coa/ chars and therefore give rise to poor combustion efficiencies. This study reports on the exce/ent combustion performance of sorne high inertinite coals, compared with others with the same rank and low inertinite content.
