  • Resumen
    • The Southern Volcanic Complex 111 is formed by basalts, a lesser amount of trachybasa/ts and some scarce trachytes, ali of them mildly alkaline. Crystal fractionation was in an early stage, controled by crystallisation and extraction of olivine (60%) and clinopyroxene (40%). The crystallisation path is, then, ru/ed by dominant clynopyroxene and lesser proportions of plagioclase and Ti-magnetite. Later extraction of plagioclase and clinopyroxene and some other differenLation processes, cou/d account far the presence of trachytes. The Angostura Formation representing the most recent activity within the entire Southern Volcanic Complex, consists of strongly alkaline and u/traa/kaline rocl
