Este trabajo es una aproximación inicial a la historia del turismo y las fuentes propicias para su estudio, marco en el cual se proponen los relatos de viaje. En primer lugar se analizan algunos aspectos de la historia de las actividades turísticas y el posible aporte de la historiografía a la configuración del status epistemológico del Turismo. Luego se ensaya una taxonomía general de los relatos de viaje subrayando su valía como fuente histórica para, finalmente, proponer un ejemplo de relato de viaje factible para la historia del turismo en Patagonia

This work is an initial approach to the history of tourism and the sources conducive to its study, a framework in which travel stories are proposed. First, some aspects of the history of tourism activities and the possible contribution of historiography to the configuration of the epistemological status of tourism are analyzed. Then a general taxonomy of the travel stories is underlined, underscoring its value as a historical source and, finally, proposing an example of a feasible travel story for the history of tourism in Patagonia.
