    La Ley Orgánica 7/1980, de 5 de julio, de Libertad Religiosa ha alcanzado los cuarenta años de vigencia. Esta norma ha contribuido al reconocimiento del derecho de libertad religiosa por parte de todos los ciudadanos y a la ausencia de graves conflictos o enfrentamientos en esta materia. Ello no quiere decir que sea una ley perfecta. Es plenamente legítimo plantearse su reforma, siempre que se tenga claro que el objetivo ha de ser mejorar la tutela del derecho de libertad religiosa, tanto en su dimensión individual como colectiva.

    Forty years have passed since the Religious Freedom Organic Law 7/1980, 5 July, has entered into force. This legal norm has contributed to the recognition of the right to religious freedom for all citizens and to the lack of serious disputes or conflicts in this matter. Anyway, this act is not perfect. It is fully legitimate to propose its reform, but the purpose of the reform must be clear: to improve the protection of the right to religious freedom, not only in its individual dimension but also in its collective aspect.
