    Entre 1680 y 1716 Leibniz se pregunta si acaso el mundo progresa en perfección. En particular, se enfrenta a un dilema específico: si tal progresión es constante o creciente. El objetivo principal de nuestro trabajo es explicar por qué ambas respuestas son lícitas en la filosofía leibniziana. Con tal fin dividimos el artículo en tres momentos. En primer lugar, analizamos la noción de progreso de Leibniz y sus diversas respuestas al interrogante; en segundo lugar, evaluamos por qué la hipótesis de progresión ascendente no es contraria a la tesis del mejor de los mundos posibles y, por último, defendemos que la validez e indeterminación de la disyuntiva constituye un requisito para introducir la posibilidad de bien moral en su sistema.

    Between 1680 and 1716 Leibniz inquires how the world’s perfection progresses. Specially, he examines if the world increases in perfection or remains equally perfect. The purpose of this paper is to explain why both answers are valid in Leibniz’s philosophy. The article is divided into three parts. First, I analyze Leibniz’s notion of progress and I show the different answers he gives to the question; second, I evaluate why the hypothesis of increasing perfection is compatible with the thesis of the best possible world; third, I defend that the indetermination of this dilemma is a requisite to introduce the possibility of moral good in his system.
