  No es el propósito de este trabajo realizar un catálogo exhaustivo sobre la presencia de Goya en el audiovisual (cine y TV), tarea que en buena medida está ya hecha, de modo tal que sus aspiraciones concretas son, por una parte, profundizar en una serie de valoraciones generales sobre la presencia de Goya en el terreno audiovisual, para, en segundo lugar, y fundamentalmente, trazar un recorrido en imágenes cinematográficas y televisivas por la biografía de Goya, mostrando con qué implicaciones, simbolismos, etc., se han mostrado en este campo la figura, la vida y obra del pintor. En efecto, es bastante habitual que muchos títulos comiencen con la infancia en su localidad natal, Fuendetodos, para pasar enseguida a sus primeros encargos en Zaragoza, o su formación en la Academia de San Fernando de Madrid y su estancia en la Corte. En tales circunstancias, algunas producciones recurrirán a una visión costumbrista y tópica, de clara raigambre romántica, para construir una imagen pintoresca del artista, mientras que otros ejemplos intentarán ajustarse a la verdad histórica. Otro de los pasajes significativos, y que actúa como auténtico punto de inflexión, es la Guerra de Independencia, con las inevitables transformaciones sociales en el conjunto del país, y personales para el pintor. A partir de ahí, su obra se oscurece y recurre a premisas más subjetivas, con una resolución más onírica y tenebrosa, no exenta de crítica social. En suma, diferentes temáticas a lo largo de una trayectoria muy diversa que atrajo el interés de numerosos realizadores a lo largo de las épocas

  This work is not an exhaustive catalogue of the presence of Goya in the audiovisual field (cinema and TV), task that has already been carried out. Its specific aspirations are, on the one hand, to deepen a series of general assessments of the presence of Goya in the audiovisual, in order to, secondly, and fundamentally, draw up a travel in cinematographic and television images by the biography of Goya, showing with what implications, symbolism, etc., have been shown in this field the figure, the life and work of the painter.

  Indeed, it is quite common for many titles to begin with childhood in their hometown, Fuendetodos, to move immediately to their first jobs in Zaragoza, or their training at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid and their stay at the Court. In such circumstances, some productions will resort to a traditional and topical vision, of clear romantic roots, to build a picturesque image of the artist, while other examples will try to adjust to the historical truth. Other one of the significant passages, and that acts as authentic point of inflexion, is the War of Independence, with the inevitable social transformations in the whole country, and personal for the painter. From there, his work gets dark and resorts to more subjective premises, with a more dreamlike and dark resolution, not exempt from social criticism. In sum, different themes along a very diverse trajectory that attracted the interest of numerous filmmakers throughout the ages
