La rebelión Tuareg y la sombra de Al Qaeda

    El Movimiento de Liberación Nacional de Azawad (MNLA) compuesto por unos dos mil guerrilleros anunció el pasado 8 de abril la independencia para el norte de Mali, territorio que los tuaregs reclaman como suyo. Este movimiento independentista, aunque es ajeno a las reivindicaciones de los islamistas de Ansar Dine que lidera Iyad Ag Ghali (conocido éste por su mediación en los secuestros de occidentales), ha compartido la lucha contra el poder central y a favor de la secesión del país. Esta unión “coyuntural” entre el movimiento islamista y el movimiento secular ha levantado todo tipo de sospechas en el país y en los Estados vecinos por la posible deriva que puede tomar el territorio ya de por sí convertido en un polvorín. En él circulan libremente las bandas criminales vinculadas al tráfico de armas y de drogas y en esta franja Sahel-Sahariana, se asientan los terroristas de AQMI.

    El norte de Mali es un territorio sin ley. Fallido. Y siempre al borde de crisis humanitarias. Escudándose en torno a estos argumentos, ha sido creado el grupo por la liberación de Azawad (no sólo incluyen tuaregs, también la comunidad árabe songhai y una parte de los peulhs). Los azawíes justifican su alzamiento en armas argumentado el abandono ancestral de la región en manos del gobierno de Mali. Y el objetivo, mediante la liberación del territorio, es establecer de nuevo la confianza entre las comunidades, instaurar un clima de seguridad entre las personas y configurar un marco de diálogo para alcanzar una paz duradera. ¿Pero cómo pretenden lograr todos estos objetivos en un lugar atorado por los envites de los grupos islamistas que luchan igualmente por la adquisición de parcelas de poder para implantar un Estado islámico o del grupo terrorista de AQMI que ha hallado en este vasto desierto su bastión para emprender la Guerra Santa contra Occidente?

    Mouvement National Pour la Libération de l’Azawad (Azawad being the name they give to Northern Mali) made up of some two thousand insurgents announced the past 8 April the “liberation” for the north of Mali, territory that the tuaregs claim.This separatist movement, although it is alien to the claims of the Islamists of Ansar Dine led by Lyad Ag Ghali (known by his mediation in the kidnappings of Western cooperants), shares with the latter the fight against the central power and in favour of Northen Mali’s secession, as seen during last month.

    This accidental "alliance" between the Islamist movement and the secular one have sparked suspicions inside the country and across the the neighboring countries about the existing links between the Tuareg’s demands and the terrorists of AQMI. In the band Sahel-Sahariana these kinds of criminal groups freely travel withouth problems. The North of Mali is a lawless territory. A failed state, often victims of humanitarian crisis. For theses reasons, the insurgent army have carried out a full stategy to save his inhospitable region. Azawad do not only include tuaregs, also the Arab community, songhais and small group of peulhs.

    The azawíes justify his intervention arguing that the Tuareg’s community have been long abandoned by the Mali’s Governement from the 1960s. The insurgents' goal is to liberate the lands from Malian occupation to establish again the confidence between the diferents communities as well as the basis for a durable peace and safety for the populations.

    The question is now how these rebels are going to reach their political and social objectives considering the fact that islamists aim to take full control of the situation and establish a religious state as well as a terrorist group (AQIM) that advocates the Holy War against the West.
