    El Líbano ha sido cautivo de conflictos regionales durante las últimas cuatro décadas. Sus problemas son profundos y no comenzarán a resolverse hasta que algo cambie más profundamente en el ámbito regional. Goza de un nuevo gobierno desde el 13 de junio de este año, influido por Hezbollah. El destino final de este gobierno está vinculado a la evolución de Siria, provocando la inestabilidad actual, una vuelta al sectarismo y la fuerte polarización entre los que apoyan a este Gobierno y la Oposición de la coalición 14 de Marzo. Quizás el Líbano no debería ser excesivamente aislado o presionado por la Comunidad Internacional en orden a no perjudicar a una población que ha sufrido todo tipo de guerras y desea la paz. Líbano precisa tener un Estado secular de una vez por todas, lograr un sentido de Nación propia entre los libaneses, donde la división de los poderes legislativo, judicial y ejecutivo fuera real constituyendo así un Estado de Derecho normal y creando estabilidad en la zona.

    Lebanon has been captive of regional conflicts during the past four decades. Its problems are deep and they will not begin to be solved till more fundamental changes happen in the regional level. It has a new government since June 13 this year, influenced by Hezbollah. The ultimate fate of this government is linked to the evolution of Syria, causing the current instability, a return to sectarianism and the strong polarization between the supporters of this Government and the March 14 coalition Opposition. Perhaps Lebanon should not be too isolated or pressured by the international community in order not to harm a population that has suffered all kinds of war and wishes peace. Lebanon needs to have a secular State, achieve a sense of Lebanese nation, where the division of legislative, law and executive powers were real, thus constituting a normal “State of law” and creating stability in the region.
