La publicación de la revista Estudios, oficialmente la número 40, ha servido de motivación para escribir su historia. Su altos y bajos son analizados con el fin de demostrar que los principales objetivos de la revista, la mejora continua de la vida académica de la Escuela de Estudios Generales y la reflexión permanente sobre las humanidades, se han mantenido a lo largo de toda su trayectoria.
El repaso por las etapas de la vida de la revista, símil de lo que sería el desarrollo humano natural, nos sirven de marco referencial para hacer esta historia. Igual que cualquier persona, tuvo su nacimiento, una larga infancia, una difícil adolescencia y una madurez que hoy cosecha experiencia y serenidad. Apoyada por la institucionalidad de la Universidad de Costa Rica, disfruta de su puesto en el Portal de Revistas Académicas del alma mater Es importante destacar que, en Estudios, al ser parte de la Escuela de Estudios Generales, las artes, las letras, el pensamiento, la historia, la medicina, la educación y un largo etc., tienen reservado un sitial de honor. La investigación sistemática y la discusión fundamentada en ella, han abierto muchas posibilidades a todos los académicos que nos han hecho el favor de aportar sus conocimientos a la mejora continua de este especio. La divulgación de este conocimiento científico y compartirlo con el mundo entero, es nuestra obligación.

The publication of Estudios magazine, officially number 40, has served as motivation to write this story. Its ups and downs are analyzed to demonstrate that the magazines main goals, the continuous improvement of the academic life at the the School of General Studies and the permanent reflection over the humanities, has been maintained throughout its entire trajectory.
Natural human development will serve as a simile as we revise the different stages of the life of the magazine. Like a person, it had its birth, a long childhood, a hard adolescence and a maturity in which nowadays, yields experience and serenity. Supported by the institutionality of the University of Costa Rica, it now enjoys a place in the portal of academic magazines developed by the alma mater.
It’s important to highlight that Estudios, as part of the School of General Studies, has a reserved space for themes in areas such as arts, humanities, thought, history, medicine, education and a long list of others. Systematic investigation and discussion, have opened many possibilities to all academics that have contributed their knowledge to the continuous improvement of the magazine. The diffusion of this scientific knowledge to the world, is our obligation.
