The archaelogical intervention in the interior of the abbey church of the Monasterio de Piedra allowed to document, in one of the apsidal chapels, a sepulchral structure formed by two anthropomorphic tombs that were used both as a charnel house or rotting place for the different individuals buried there and below that an ossuary where the bone remains would be later placed. The chronology of this funerary structure could date from the 13th century and its use could have been preserved until the 18th century. Materials of different periods of time were found, but these were always mixed with modern and contemporary debris.
