The chapter investigates the experiences of women in Greece, who participate in solidarity economic structures throughout the country which are not using official currency in their activities. By the term solidarity structures here are meant all those groups, schemes, initiatives and organised practices which are self-defined as based on the principle of solidarity, in contrast to the competition and individual utility maximisation principle of the mainstream, capitalist economy.
