Resumen de Simmel: la moda, el atractivo formal del límite

Jorge Lozano

  • In "Simmel: La moda, el atractivo formal del límite", the author upholds the radical modernity of G. Simmel’s thought. The paper traces the technological, spatial and temporal aspects of fashion, showing it to be the social and cultural place of contrast, the territory where being and not-being merge into one and the same thing. The paper underlines the great contradiction of modernity (and fashion) in that it is a policy and an aesthetic outlook that hinges on contingent events and yet aspires to permanency. Here the seduction exercised by fashion is placed in the context oft he recognized right to be unfaithful to it.
