This paper reports on a techno-typological analysis of the lithic industry at the Tarazona III site (La Rinconada, Seville, Spain), on a +44-38 m terrace (T-11) of the Guadalquivir alluvial system. A total of 2,409 pieces were recovered at 5 stratigraphic levels. Results for OSL numerical dating reveal a chronological interval ranging from 129 ky to 104 ky. Techno typological characterisation of all materials revealed a degree of continuity based on the use of pebbles for the mass extraction of flakes and the shaping of tools; bifacial operational chains were almost totally absent. The evidence points to a non-Levallois industry and notches were the most common tools. Interpretation of the findings suggests that this technolithic complex belongs to a stage of the early Middle Palaeolithic specific to fluvial areas.
