  • The site is located at the South of the Iberian Peninsula, on the outskirts of the town of Lucena. From a geologic point of view, this cavity is hosted by limestones and dolostones (Lias), belonging to the External Southern Subbetic Domain of the Betic Ranges. Within the endokarstic deposit, highlight the profile J/K, in which 18 samples of bone remains have been taken. The samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Crystallinity Index and Splitting Factor were also calculated. The results are interpreted as evidences of diagenetic processes and thermal events suffered by the bones (650°C - 700°C).
