• Resumen

  • Sierra Nevada is the most studied mountain area of the Iberian Peninsula with respect to the environmental evolutionsince the Last Glaciation and subsequent deglaciation. The purpose of this paper is to summarise all the studies focusing on thechronology of the environmental sequence in Sierra Nevada inferred both from natural records and historical sources. Based on these studies, five phases have been determined: Last Glacial Maximum, deglaciation, Holocene, Little Ice Age and recent evolution.
