  • Resumen
    • As part of the Collaborative Research Centre 806, which aims at investigation of human dispersal from Africa to Europe and human-environment interaction, a field campaign has taken place in March 2012 in the Antequera region, Southern Spain. More than 100 m shallow sediment cores have been drilled by using different drilling techniques (Russian drilling device and vibracorer) on- and off-shore. The study sites include the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, Laguna Dulce and Laguna Salada, located close to archaeological sites. These endorheic basins contain lacustrine sediments and therefore build up excellent archives for palaeoenvironmental reconstruction. Such salt lakes are highly sensitive to climate changes and show clear response to expansion and retraction of the water level due to climate variability. Multi-proxy studies in terms of geochemical, geophysical, sedimentological and biological parameters were used to reconstruct the environment of the Late Holocene. Preliminary results show valuable proxies and highlight possible correlation between the different archives for palaeoenvironmental studies
