  • Resumen
    • This paper offers a sample of kinesics-narrative behavior of a indigenous female adult speaker from central Mexico who narrates her own wedding and the initial years of her marital life. Given the fact that her behavior is accompanied by high frequency in the use of abstract pointing gestures within the context of a nearly absent use of other types of gestures (like metaphoric gestures and iconic gestures which tend to synthesize the narration of adult speakers). This small sample of culture reveals how the speaker conceives her narration: as a signifying totality in itself not by its own semantic content but mainly by its pragmatic and discursive content. That is, by its value in itself as a life stoly. It is argued here that the gestural phenomena is a semiotic continuous marker for a speaker’s presentation of self.
