Elidia Beatriz Blázquez Parra, Isidro Ladrón de Guevara López, Manuel Damián Marín Granados

  • The degree is the first level of university studies. It includes the basic teachings along with other subjects aimed at training the future engineer. This article describes a study carried out on the inclusion of the area of Graphic Expression in Engineering in the Degree in Engineering in Industrial Technologies at national level in both public and private universities. As a result, we can observe a difference in the involvement of this area in public universities with respect to private universities. Thus the Polytechnic University of Valencia offers this subject to a greater extent whilst private universities—such as those of Navarra and Deusto—only offer 6 credits. Finally, a graphical comparison is presented regarding the participation and status of this subject in the various universities. At the local level the relationship with different subjects of the curriculum of the University of Malaga is also analyzed, through its teaching plan, taking into account the course schedules and timing. The results reveal how subjects within the area of Graphic Expression in Engineering are most strongly linked to the study plans of Electricity, Structures and Materials and, finally, Mechanics and Machines.
