Régimen de precipitación en Montalbán Estado Carabobo, Venezuela

    Se analizaron las precipitaciones anuales (PA) y mensuales (PM) de 40 años de registros, de la zona agrícola de Montalbán, estado Carabobo. Se clasificó la lámina de agua caída definiendo seis categorías: desde muy seco (año 2001) hasta muy húmedo (no hubo ningún año) con la elaboración de los respectivos histogramas de frecuencia. La simetría de los datos de PM se realizó mediante el cálculo del Índice de Simetría Yule. Las precipitaciones variaron entre 624 mm (2001) y 1.268 mm (1969), con una amplitud de 644 mm. El valor medio de las PA totales fue de 964,3 ± 159,5 mm., con un coeficiente de variación de 16,5%. De acuerdo al menor número de meses lluviosos y a la magnitud de la lámina media anual se clasificó la localidad como régimen estacional unimodal con categoría intermedia. Según el Índice de Yule los meses con asimetría negativa fueron marzo-abril-mayo y octubre. La mayoría de los valores extremos de sequía se presentaron en los últimos cinco años. La distribución y magnitud de las precipitaciones en la zona de Montalbán no permiten conseguir rendimientos óptimos en naranja y café sin un riego complementario.

    Forty years of rainfall data registered in the Montero farm, planted with orange and coffee trees, located in Montalbán, Carabobo State, were analyzed annually and monthly. Analyses of descriptive statistics and the probability of the expected rainfall in relation to an indicated value were carried out. The precipitation in this area was also classified into six categories from very dry to very wet conditions, and histograms of frequency were made. The month-rainfall trend was established by using the asymmetry index of Yule. The rainfall data ranged from 624 mm to 1.268 mm for the years 2001 and 1969, respectively. The mean value of total annual rainfall was 964.3 ± 159.5 mm, with 16.5% of coefficient of variation. Taken into account the number of wet months and the mean annual precipitation, Montalbán was classified as unimodal stational regime with intermediate category. According to the Yule index the months with negative asymmetry were March, April, May, and October. The majority of the extreme values of drought were found in the last five years. The magnitude and distribution of the rainfall in Montalban do not allow the farmers to get optimal yields for orange or coffee without complementary irrigations.
