  • The "Russian formalist" Tynianov would be 100 this year : a good a moment as any to reevaluate his life and work. It is the poetician we should remember, for his understanding of the phonemic principle of language, foundation-stone of modem phonology, and his conception of poetics as a theory of literary relativity.
