    Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX se desarrolló en el Abra de Bilbao una importante actividad turística ligada a los baños de mar. Entre las distintas iniciativas destaca especialmente el caso de Las Arenas de Getxo, por su ambición y por hallarse estrechamente ligada a intereses inmobiliarios.

    During the second half of the XIX an important tourist activity connected to seabathing was developed in Bilbao. Especially outstanding amongst the different initiatives was the case of Las Arenas in the municipality of Getxo, both because of its ambitious nature and because it was closely linked to real estate interests.
