  • Hölderlin's translations of nine fragments of Pindar's poetry are usually very faithful - but followed by comments whose relation to the fragment is difficult to interpret, and often related to Hôlderlin's psychological illness (although dates are still being debated). Indeed, the commentary to the text entitled Das Bele- bende is a reversal : but the issue is why ?
