If traditions of complaining of copyists and their changes (Chrétien de Troyes), and even of «annotated» copying (Gui de Mori 's Roman de la Rose,) exist in medieval literature, yet various authors — Froissart, Régnier, and especially Villon — seem to have programmed the very mobility of subsequent copies, thus appropriating their own « great escapes ».
