Resumen de Estimación del riesgo aterosclerótico en estudiantes de medicina del Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), período noviembre 2006- enero 2007

  Se realizó un estudio analítico, prospectivo y cuasi experimental, cuyo propósito consistió en estimar el riesgo de padecer aterosclerosis en estudiantes de Medicina del Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) durante el período Noviembre 2006 - Enero 2007. El universo estuvo constituido por 363 estudiantes que cursan la carrera de medicina en dicha universidad y la muestra por 100 escogidos al azar.

  La obesidad y la hipertensión arterial fueron los antecedentes patológicos observados con mayor frecuencia; un 67 % consumían alcohol; los hábitos alimenticios tienen relación con el aumento de los lípidos sanguíneos; el sexo femenino fue el más afectado por la hiperlipidemia; el sedentarismo jugó un papel de suma importancia en el aumento de los niveles de lípidos.

  An analytical, experimental, pilot study was made in which we intend to estimate the risk of suffering aterosclerosis in a population of Medicine students of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) during the period November 2006 – January 2007. The statistical universe consisted of 363 students who study the career of Medicine in the above mentioned university; the sample was made by 100 students, chosen at random.

  The obesity and the arterial high blood pressure were the pathological precedents observed with greater frequency: 67% were consuming alcohol; the nutritional habits were related with the increase of the blood lipids; the feminine sex was most affected by the hyperlipidemia; the sedentary habits played a role of supreme importance in the increase of the lipids.
