En el espacio de Bilbao no se ha detectado testimonio alguno anterior al año 1300,incluso se ha confirmado que las torres que según algunos autores existían con anterioridada la fundación, son posteriores al año 1334 dado que aparecen adosadas a lamuralla. Las siete calles responden a un único proyecto urbano. Al parecer desde elcomienzo existió una distribución de funciones económicas.

No references concerning Bilbao have been found pre-dating the year 1300. The evidence available has confirmed that the towers which, according to some authors, existed before the city was founded were actually built later than 1334, as they were added to the city wall. The seven streets were planned as a single urban project. It would appear that the distribution of trades and other economic functions was planned from the beginning.
