Resumen de El Bilbao soñado de Iñaki Azkuna

En Bilbao ha habido soñadores y soñadoras forjadores, pero también muchos/as cuya mayor preocupación ha sido la peseta, sin importarles la ciudad. La bilbainada, esa fanfarronía graciosa, ha vivido durante años (más en la época del franquismo, en que hasta para soñar había que pedir permiso) de muchos tópicos: el puente colgante, los ingenieros, el Athletic, los de Deusto del P. Bernaola, y el Igualatorio. En la actualidad hay espacio para los soñadores, para las oportunidades en la ciudad y, sobre todo, para soñar en cualquier proyecto, por complicado que sea. Bilbao ha mejorado en autoestima y nos sentimos capaces otra vez, como antaño, de levantarnos de nuestras cenizas. Que el señor Santiago, nuestro patrono, y nuestra patrona de Begoña nos iluminen.

Bilbon ameslari ekinzale asko egonagatik, beste askoren kezkarik behinena pezeta izan da, azken hauei hiriaren nondik norakoak ez zihoazkiela. Bilbainada, ahoberokeria xelebre hori, aspaldikoa da (Francoren garaian indar berezia izan zuen; izan ere, amets egiteko ere baimena behar) eta topiko askotan oinarritu da: eskegitako zubian, ingeniarietan, Athleticen, A. Bernaolaren Deustukoetan eta Igualatorioan, besteak beste. Gaur egun, badago lekua ameslerientzat, hirian aurrera egiteko eta, zailtasunak zailtasun, edozein proiektu amets egiteko ere. In Bilbao there have been dreamers and dreamers who have constructed, but there have also been many whose greatest concern has been money, without any care for the city. The Bilbainada, that amusing boast, has for many years (more so in the years of Francoism, when permission had to be requested even for dreaming) made use of many clichés: the transporter bridge, the engineers, the Athletic football club, P. Bernaola’s students at Deusto, and the Health Insurance System. Today there is room for dreamers, for opportunities in the city and, above all, for dreaming about any project no matter how complicated. Bilbao has increased in self-respect and we once again feel able, as in the past, to rise up from our ashes. Let Santiago, our patron saint, and our patron the virgin of Begoña illuminate us.
