    Basándose en “La Canción de Bilbao” de Bertolt Brecht, el texto rememora los cambios de Bilbao durante los últimos treinta años. Evoca en particular al poeta Gabriel Aresti y su crepuscular oskorria como contrapunto a la imagen poética de la luna brechtiana y de su reencarnación en el cetáceo de Gehry en Abandoibarra. Tomando a Bilbao como el centro de nuestra ficción vasca, se invoca la imagen de “la ciudad” ideal de Dante, Blake, Vico y Joyce (“La historia es una pesadilla de la que trato de despertarme”). El texto concluye celebrando tanto el Bilbao dantesco que Aresti nos enseñó a vivir como viaje iniciático, como el nuevo Bilbao imaginario del Guggenheim.

    Based on Bertoldt Brecht’s “Bilbao Song”, the text recalls the changes undergone by Bilbao over the last thirty years. In particular it evokes the poet Gabriel Aresti and his twilight oskorria (red sky) as a counterpoint to the poetic image of the Brechtian moon and its reincarnation in Gehry’s cetacean in Abandoibarra. Taking Bilbao as the centre of our Basque fiction, the image of the “ideal city” of Dante, Blake, Vico and Joyce is evoked (“History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake”). The text concludes by celebrating both the Dantesque Bilbao that Aresti taught us to experience as an initiatory journey, and the new imaginary Bilbao of the Guggenheim.

    Bertolt Brechten Bilboko Kantan oinarrituta, testuak Bilbon azken hogeita hamar urteetan izandako aldaketak agertzen ditu. Brechten ilargiaren irudi poetikoaren eta berau bihurtutako Abandoibarrako Gehryren zetazeoaren kontrapuntu, Gabriel Aresti olerkaria eta honen ilunsentiko oskorria azaltzen dira. Bilbo gure euskal fikzioaren erdigunetzat hartuta, zenbaiten hiri ideala aipatzen da; hala nola, Danterena, Blakerena, Vicorena eta Joycerena (“historia amesgaiztoa izanik, esnatzen saiatzen naiz”). Azkenean, bai iniziazio-bidaiatzat bizitzeko Arestik erakutsitako Bilbo dantesko hura, bai Guggenheimen garaiko irudipenezko Bilbo aurkezten ditu testuak.
