    Bilbao ha sido una ciudad muy poco propensa a fantasear sobre sí misma y, en particular, sobre su imagen posible. Lo real, la imagen, desplegada ante la mirada, ha monopolizado la imagen pictórica de la ciudad, impidiendo su recreación fantástica, puesto que no en vano han existido momentos históricos en que lo auténtico, por sí mismo, resultaba muy increíble. Sin embargo, algunos pocos pintores, dándole la vuelta a lo real, han vislumbrado otros Bilbao que, sin embargo, están en éste.

    Bilbao has beem a city with little inclination to fantasise about itself and, in particular, about its possible image. What is real, the image laid out before one’s gaze, has monopolised the pictorial image of the city, preventing its recreation in fantasy, since not for nothing have there been historical moments in which the authentic itself seemed highly incredible. However, a few painters, inverting the real, have glimpsed other Bilbaos that are nonetheless contained in this one.

    Bilbok ez du bere irudiari buruz berebiziko fantasiarik landu. Errealitatea, begiradaren bidezko irudi soila, pinturaren bidezko hiriari buruzko ikuspegietan, nagusitu da. Horrek oztopatu egin du ikuspegi fantastikoa, sarritan, benetan gertatzen ohi zena nahiko sinesgaitza izan arren. Dena dela margolari batzuk, errealitatea irauliz, bestelako Bilbo asmatzen saiatu dira, benetakoan sustraiturik egon arren.
