Resumen de Percepción de la ciencia y la tecnología en estudiantes de bachillerato del Distrito Nacional y la Provincia Santo Domingo

  Nuestro objetivo general era el de investigar como perciben los estudiantes de bachillerato del Distrito Nacional y de Santo Domingo la Ciencia y la Tecnología, teniendo como objetivos específicos: (1) Medir el nivel de interés e información hacia temas científicos y tecnológicos de nuestra población objeto de estudio; (2) Establecer cuál es la imagen de la ciencia y la tecnología; (3) Investigar sobre la posesión de información acerca de algunos temas científicos y tecnológicos; (4) Conocer la imagen hacia la profesión de investigador; (5) Indagar la percepción sobre su educación científica y tecnológica y sus vocaciones hacia esas ramas y, por último, (6) Establecer su opinión hacia la actividad científica y tecnológica en el país.

  Esta que es la primera investigación de este tipo realizada en el país, puso de manifiesto el escaso interés que los temas de ciencia y tecnología generan en los estudiantes y, en consecuencia, en nuestra población y la poca información –por no decir nula– que tenemos los dominicanos con respecto a estos temas.

  Our overall objective in this research was to determine what high school students think about Science and Technology. The specific objectives are: 1) to measure the level of interest and information about technological issues of our study population; 2) to establish their image about Science and Technology; 3) to quantify their possession of scientific and technological concepts; 4) to determine their judgement about the profession of researchers; 5) to find out the possible vocations in scientific and technological issues; and finally 6) to find out their opinion about the actual level of science an technology activity in the country.

  This is the first national research of this kind in the country. It has given light on the lack of interest on issues of science and thecnology in the students and in general in our population. There is also little information about those items.
