    Les visites pastorals a la parròquia de Crevillent, fetes entre 1605 i 1884, ens permeten obtenir un major coneixement de com era l’antic temple, situat a l’actual plaça del Mercat, pel que fa a la seua composició –sobre l’antiga mesquita musulmana, construït al llarg dels segles xvi i xvii, amb contínues ampliacions de l’edifici–, així com al seu contingut, gràcies a l’exhaustivitat i al detall dels inventaris fets, que hi incloien dades sobre la seua distribució interior. A través de les ordenacions i dels mandats del bisbe sabem quins aspectes relacionats amb la religiositat no es complien adequadament, tot això relacionat amb el context social de la comunitat crevillentina.

    Pastoral visits to the parish church of Crevillent, made between 1605 and 1884, allow us to obtain a better understanding of what the old temple was like, placed in the Market Square, as regards to its composition (it was built on the ancient Muslim mosque throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, with continuous expansions of the building), as well as to its content, thanks to the thoroughness and detail of the inventories, including data on its interior layout.Through orders and mandates of the Bishop we know which aspects of religiosity were not met adequately at the time, all related to the social context of the community of Crevillent
