    Los cambios intempestivos procedentes de la globalización de las economías en los mercados, requieren que las habilidades gerenciales tengan un papel preponderante en la sobrevivencia de las mismas, de allí, en la medida que el mundo de los negocios cambie se hace necesario el cambio en la estructura mental de quienes dirigen estas organizaciones.

    En este sentido, el director o gerente de cualquier tipo de organización debe actualizar y dar aplicabilidad a los tres (3) grandes grupos de habilidades gerenciales.

    Este artículo tiene como propósito caracterizar las habilidades gerenciales que poseen los gerentes de las organizaciones del sector palmicultor del departamento del Cesar – Colombia y la identificación de estrategias, que permitan mejorar la gestión de los gerentes en el desarrollo de su actividad empresarial. El tipo de estudio utilizado fue la investigación de campo, transeccional, no experimental y descriptiva. La población para la presente investigación, fue de dieciocho (18) gerentes y subgerentes operativos o de primera línea, como informantes principales distribuidos en las empresas palmicultoras del departamento del Cesar – Colombia, lo que permitió identificar las características de los gerentes y proponer estrategias que permitan mejorar su gestión en estas organizaciones, enfocadas en la potencialización de las habilidades gerenciales identificadas y el desarrollo de las competencias personales.

    The untimely changes coming from the globalization of economies in the markets, require management skills to have a preponderant role in the survival of the same, hence, as the business world changes it is necessary to change the mental structure of those who direct these organizations. In this sense, the director or manager of any type of organization must update and give applicability to the three (3) large groups of management skills.

    The purpose of this article is to characterize the managerial skills of the managers of the organizations of the palm sector of the Cesar department of - Colombia and the identification of strategies to improve the management of the managers in the development of their business activity. The type of study used was field research, transectional, nonexperimental and descriptive. The population for the present investigation was eighteen (18) managers and assistant operatives or first line, as main informants distributed in palm oil companies of the department of Cesar - Colombia, which allowed identifying the characteristics of the managers and proposing strategies that allow to improve their management in these organizations, focused on the potentialization of the managerial skills identified and the development of personal competences.
