    This article examines the urban environmental imaginary in Douce déroutes (2018), the latest novel by the Haitian writer, Yanick Lahens. As a point of departure, the article analyzes the mise-en-scène of a publicity campaign by Audi, the German automobile manufacturer, for the Quattro, its all-wheel-drive brand. In the wake of the PetroCaribe scandal, the marketing of Haiti as the “land of the Quattro” leads to a profound reflection on the part of the novelist on the contrast between the unbounded mobility available to the privileged few and the exposure of the great majority of city dwellers to multiple socio-political and natural risks in Port-au-Prince, unequal and vulnerable.

    Cet article examine l’imaginaire de l’environnement urbain dans Douce déroutes (2018), le dernier roman de l’écrivaine haïtienne, Yanick Lahens. L’analyse prend comme point de départ la mise en scène dans la campagne publicitaire du fabricant automobile allemand Audi pour son Quattro, un véhicule tout-terrain. Dans la brèche ouverte par le scandale de PetroCaribe, la ré-imagination publicitaire de Haïti comme « le pays du Quattro » donne ainsi lieu à une réflexion profonde de la romancière sur le contraste entre une mobilité sans limites accessible à une minorité fortunée et l’exposition d’une majorité des citadins aux risques multiples, socio-politiques ou naturels dans une ville, Port-au-Prince, inégalitaire et vulnérable.
