    Lluís Nicolau d’Olwer (†1961) va dedicar bona part dels darrers vint anys de la seva vida a l’estudi de la vida i l’obra de Pere Abelard (†1142). Com a resultat d’aquestes recerques, Nicolau va publicar diversos articles (de crítica filològica i històrica) i sobretot va redactar la biografia intel·lectual Pere Abelard: un humanista del segle XII, publicada recentment. L’objectiu principal d’aquest article és reconstruir i sistematizar la filosofia de Pere Abelard (concretament la dialèctica, el problema dels universals i l’ètica, tal com són exposats per Nicolau) i fer-ne una valoració crítica.

    Lluís Nicolau d’Olwer (†1961) devoted many of the last twenty years of his life to studying the life and works of Peter Abelard (†1142). As a result of these studies, Nicolau published several articles (of philological and historical criticism) and, most importantly, wrote the intellectual biography Pere Abelard: un humanista del segle XII, which has been published recently. The main aim of this article is to reconstruct and systematise the philosophy of Pere Abelard (more specifically, dialectics, the problem of the universals and ethics, as presented by Nicolau) and to critically assess it.
