Resumen de Reconstrucción de la arquitectura lacustre cuaternaria del Maar de Fuentillejo mediante tomografía eléctrica. Campo de Calatrava

Ángel García Cortés, Juana Vegas Salamanca, A. Granda, L. Galán, Alfredo Pérez González

  • The geophysical method employed is the electrical tomography, of special interest and application in cases where the abrupt and complex lateral and vertical facies changes are presumed to be important. A 1,640-m network of high-resolution electrical resistivity tomography is used to construct a geophysical image of the internal structure of the Fuentillejo lake basin. Three apparent resistivity pseudo-sections (TE-1, TE-2 and TE-3) were measured, which show the architecture of the sedimentary facies and the contact with the maar country rocks. The penetration depth reached with this method is 80 m below lake floor. The geophysical results are contrasted with a 142 m length continuous core (FU-1) retrieved from a mechanical drilling for palaeoclimatic research. 23 major lithostratigraphic units have been identified in the lacustrine record of FU-1 core, pointing out variations in clastic input, water chemistry and organic fraction throughout the history of the lake.
