  • Resumen
    • In the year 2003 the archaeological works before the construction of the highway M-50 in Madrid, gave place to the discovery of one of the most ancient and important enclaves of flint mining industry of prehistoric epoch in the Iberian peninsula. The flint extraction wasrealized across more than 3.500 vertical shafts standardized of approximately one meter diameter and up to 7 meters depth. The silica rock levels exploited are placed in the Intermediate Unit of the middle Miocene Madrid Basin. The geological particularities of the sedimentary environment have determined the mining developed strategies and has revealed the existence of a geological knowledge in prehistoric epoch acquired across the successive vertical explorations during the mining labours
