  • Resumen
    • The San Simón Bay complex is one of the largest and better preserved sedimentary areas in the Galician coast. In this work estuarine and tidal flat well-developed deposits have been temporal and spatially studied. Characteristic facies have been identified. Actual sedimentary sub-environments has been described and characterized. The main objectives were to define the lithological facies and stratigraphy that characterize the sedimentary environments as well as the near surface-sedimentary history. 2D facies architecture has been established. It has been observed alternating well-defined metric estuarine channel-fill and tidal flat deposits, which are related to climatic and sea-level changes. Two millennial-scale, fining-upward sequences show an initial incision evolving into channel fill and tidal flat deposits. An age model has been developed for the recent Holocene based on AMS 14C, 210Pb and 137Cs dating.
