wo main depositional episodes have been differentiated in the Bardena Blanca depression (Ebro Basin, Navarra) using geomorphologic mapping, sedimentalogical analysis, soil development and dating techniques (optically stimulated luminescence and radiocarbon). The oldest period, Upper Pleistocene in age, comprises three stages of gravel accumulation with cover pediment development. Chronological data show ages of 92, 52 and 15-21 ka respectively, which are closely related to cold climate signals. The youngest one, Holocene in age, is made up of four sandy-silty sedimentary sequences forming a nested fill terrace system. This alluvial period is linked to arid environmental conditions and the chronological distribution of sequences is 11-7, 6-3, 2.5-1 and 0.5-0.2 ka BP.
