    The confrontation of arbitration with artificial intelligence (AI) is a current topic. Generally speaking, AI has already been introduced into the spheres of law and justice. It is logical that arbitration should also be involved. Legaltechs in particular are focusing on this. AI can be perceived as an aid to arbitration, for example by improving the arbitrator selection process or providing tools to assist arbitrators in reaching a decision. On a more ambitious and radical level, AI could also be viewed in the future as a substitute for arbitrators. Are we moving towards a robotic arbitrator, and an award issued by a machine? Caution is required, since there is some myth in this projection. Nevertheless serious reflection is required in order to address the technical, and more particularly the legal, dimensions of this question. It goes without saying that a dehumanised arbitration process is not desirable. Nevertheless the tools made available by AI can, when these are reliable and well-mastered, certainly provide assistance to arbitration practitioners. The latter must be aware of the arrival of AI in their sphere of practice and adapt to this.

    La confrontation de l'arbitrage à l'intelligence artificielle est un thème d'actualité. De manière générale, l'intelligence artificielle a fait son entrée dans le monde du droit et de la justice. Il est logique qu'elle intéresse désormais le monde de l'arbitrage. Des legaltechs s'y dédient particulièrement. L'intelligence artificielle peut être perçue comme une aide à l'arbitrage, par exemple en améliorant le processus de sélection des arbitres ou en fournissant des outils d'aide à la prise de décision des arbitres. De manière plus ambitieuse et radicale, l'intelligence artificielle peut être aussi vue dans le futur comme un substitut à l'arbitre. Va-t-on vers un arbitre robot, une sentence rendue par une machine ? Il faut être prudent en la matière, car il y a une part de mythe dans cette projection. Néanmoins, il convient d'y réfléchir sérieusement pour traiter la question dans ses dimensions techniques et, surtout, juridiques. Il va de soi qu'un arbitrage déshumanisé n'est pas souhaitable. Cependant, les outils de l'intelligence artificielle peuvent, s'ils sont fiables et bien maîtrisés, être d'une aide certaine aux praticiens de l'arbitrage. Ceux-ci doivent être conscients de l'arrivée de l'intelligence artificielle dans le champ de leur pratique et s'y adapter.
