  We approach a synthetic study of the sculpture that took place during the 18th century in Lower Andalusia, offering a series of interpretative keys, to historical, aesthetic, stylistic and iconographic level, for its better comprehension. The prolongation of the baroque forms, the introduction of the Rococo current and the transit to the tempered plastic creations of the illustrated academicism, mark the sculptural production of local and foreign artists who worked at Western Andalusia (Seville, Cadiz, Huelva and Cordova), without forgetting the import of italian works, so much relevant in Cadiz area.

  Abordamos un sintético estudio de la escultura que se produjo durante el siglo XVIII en la Baja Andalucía, ofreciéndose una serie de claves interpretativas, a nivel histórico, estético, estilístico e iconográfico, para su mejor comprensión. La prolongación de las formas barrocas, la introducción de la corriente rococó y el tránsito hacia las atemperadas creaciones plásticas del academicismo ilustrado, signan la producción escultórica de los artistas locales y foráneos que trabajaron en Andalucía Occidental (Sevilla, Cádiz, Huelva y Córdoba), sin olvidarnos de la importación de obras italianas, de tanto peso en el área gaditana.
