Resumen de Espacio urbano y espacio rural en el Noticiario español: funciones y modos de construcción
This article analyzes two stories appearing in the Noticiario Español, the first officially sanctioned cinematographic newsreel under Franco’s regime, produced by the Spanish National Department of Cinematography from 1938 to 1941.
The two stories, Madrid. The Victory Festival and Valladolid.
Plowing Competition, depict official functions of the new regime set in two very different backgrounds, the former, urban, and the latter, rural. What is significant here, however, is not the contrast of settings, but rather their subordination, through planning and editing, to an ideological order which sought to establish the homogenization of the country and the abstract consensus of its population.
