    Este artículo examina la recepción de las influencias del socialismo francés y de la socialdemocracia alemana en el PSOE durante la transición a la democracia. La tesis principal es que los socialistas españo- les estuvieron atraídos por el denominado socialismo del sur de Europa que propugnaba el PSF. Por otro lado, el PSOE estuvo influido por el modelo socialdemócrata imperante en los partidos del norte de Europa. Como resultado el PSOE desplegó una retórica radical y al mismo tiempo llevó a cabo una política moderada. Esta combinación le sirvió para luchar por la hegemonía de la izquierda durante la Transición.

    This article examines the influence of French Socialism and German Social Democracy on the PSOE during the Spanish transition to democracy. The central thesis is that the Spanish socialists were attracted to so-called «southern European socialism», an ideological line promoted by PSF. At the same time, the PSOE received influences from the social democracy of Northern Europe. As a result, the Spanish socialists employed a radical rhetoric while carrying out a moderate political practice. This combination was useful in the struggle for hegemony within the Left during the transition.
