The outcrops S ofAspe show NE directed thrusts with minor backthrusts. They are limited to the North by the Hondones Fault, to the West by the Pantano de Elche Diapir, to the South by Upper Miocene deposits and to the East by a dextral slightly inverse strike-slip fault which separates these outcrops from those of the Sierra de Crevillente. H/e have distinguished four tectonic units (Poligono de Aspe, Morteros, Fuente del Hermano and Uchell) and, two slices (Tres Hermanas and Carretera Aspe-Crevillente, and the Slice Zone of the Barranco de las Monjas). We propose four deformation phases: I) NW-SE folding (Late Eocene-earliest Miocene), 2) NE thrusting (Early Miocene), 3) N135°E dextral strike-slip faults, and 4) N045° E sinistraI strike slip faults which produce the thrusting of the S of Aspe series over the Pantano de Elche Diapir.
