Tertiary tectonic-sedimentary characters of the Algarve margin (SW Iberia)

  • The study of the Algarve margin on the basis of multichannel seismic profiles and petroleum exploration wells illustrates the seismic stratigraphy and tectonics of this region. A correlation with the sedimentary record of the near Portuguese and Spanish areas is proposed. This study provides an integrated view of the geodynamic evolution of this margin, in the context of the Africa-Eurasia plate boundary in the Gulf of Cadix.
