    El propósito del presente trabajo es emplear la noción de Teología Política articulada por C. Schmitt en torno al concepto específicamente moderno de soberanía, a fin de evaluar el estatuto que, en cuanto a este paradigma, presenta la obra del jurista Miguel de Ulzurrum como dispositivo teórico legitimatorio del poder imperial. Con ello se procura identificar, en perspectiva teórica, el estatuto epocal de dicho poder, y por tanto la especificidad de la proto-modernidad hispana frente al canon europeo moderno, dependiente de la división respecto de aquella también en cuanto a lo político

    This essay uses the concept of Political Theology as it was proposed by C. Schmitt in his studies about the modern concept of sovereignty. This concept enables us to consider the gap between this paradigm and the works of the jurist Miguel de Ulzurrum as mechanism of legitimation of the imperial power. Thus we can identify, from a theoretical viewpoint, the epochal status of this power, and therefore the specificity of Hispanic proto-modernity as opposed to the modern European canon, which depends on the rupture of that in its own normative construction
