This paper takes up a current theme in education, that of finding a methodology for in-service courses through which the skills and attitudes of teachers can be appropriately developed. We report on an attempt to help teachers develop awareness of the process by which learning takes place on an INSET course, to make the process explicit to themselves and, in doing so, make this awareness accessible for future action. The key means of achieving this was to engage participants in a continuous evaluation of the methodology and content of the course.
