Rickets is a metabolic disease caused by vitamin D deficiency, whose most characteristic manifestation is bone deformation. The main factor affecting the prevalence of rickets is the lack of solar exposure. This study examines the prevalence of this disease in a sample of burials recovered from the Cathedral of Santa Maria (Vitoria-Gasteiz, S. XI-XIX) and the influence of the Little Ice Age (LIA, S. XIV-XIX) in the frequency of rickets. The number of cases during the LIA exponentially increases over the past centuries, reaching a doubling of the percentage of the disease in the population
