This invited talk intends to be a succinct summary of recent advances in the study of abrupt climate changes during the Quaternary in the Iberian Peninsula. Comparing terrestrial and marine signals during rapid climate changes helps to shed some light into the climate mechanisms responsible of these variations along last glacial cycle. Additionally, understanding the transference of these rapid climate changes around the world requires the characterization of regional variability in areas such as the Iberian Peninsula that are far from the poles. I will focus on speleothem records as rather new archives of past environmental climate conditions, highlighting their precise chronologies and their ability to register both temperature and precipitation signals in northern Iberia.
